Global trade compliance typically falls into three buckets: export compliance, import compliance and trade agreements. Making rational and cost-effective decisions related to global trade compliance can be nearly impossible without the proper tools and support in place.

Trade management tools come in various forms – homegrown, on premise, cloud or some variation of those.

Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is the delivery of on-demand computing services, typically over the internet and on a pay-as-you-go basis. The cloud is becoming a popular alternative among organizations searching for approaches to develop and grow without investing extra resources into innovation framework. Some reasons organizations are choosing cloud include:

  • Reduced Cost
  • Flexibility
  • Stability
  • Scalability
  • Collaboration
  • Mobility
  • Security

In the business software community, this concept has been around for a while, commonly referred to as SaaS. Under a SaaS model, the service provider hosts the software on its servers, thus eliminating the costs of purchasing the software and any additional hardware to run it. Furthermore, the provider manages software updates and maintenance.

SAP Partner Managed Cloud (PMC)

In the SAP PMC model, the tenant obtains their entire SAP landscape from a single vendor, who is part of the SAP partner program. The vendor buys the software license from SAP and packages it with managed services, hosting, customization and/or other services into a complete SAP SaaS solution, which is then leased to the tenant. The process of finding the right provider and landscape is greatly simplified for customers. That being said, customers should do their due diligence to ensure the partner they select is qualified.

The PMC model also allows the tenant to transfer to an OpEx solution with savings over other pricing models.

Krypt Cloud using SAP PMC
